As you might be aware, in April 2011 Liverpool City Council began consulting with residents and organisations on whether services for people with a moderate level of need should still be funded.
This consultation continued until September, and on 4 November 2011 a report containing feedback from the consultation went before the council’s cabinet.
Councillors approved the recommendation that only people assessed as being in the substantial or critical banding will be able to receive council-funded services.
From this month (January 2012), Liverpool City Council will be reviewing all people who currently receive council-funded services. These reviews will be conducted by social workers and people will receive a letter telling them when the review will happen.
People who remain assessed as having a moderate level of need will be signposted to universal services and will also be able to find out about available support via the Advocacy Rights Hub.
They will receive follow-up contact six weeks after receiving notification of the review decision to confirm that they have accessed a suitable level of support.
