The Reader Organisation and Local Solutions have joined forces to provide ten weeks of support for carers in a new, free course.
They’ll be providing practical help and advice on stress management, support networks, health and wellbeing, taking time out for you, maximising income and accessing resources.
You will also receive training in reading aloud to someone you care for, based around the ground-breaking book A Little, Aloud.
It is open to a wide range of carers, including foster carers, people who look after an elderly or sick relative, those who care for someone with a mental health problem or disability, those who have caring responsibilities, but might not conside themselves to be a carer.
Start date: Tuesday 1st March, 1.00pm – 3.00pm, Local Solutions (Mount Vernon, Liverpool), for ten weeks.
For further information and details on how to apply please visit their blog.
For those who cannot easily reach Local Solutions, they can arrange transport there and back and we will reimburse travel expenses. For those who don’t want to leave the person they care for, they can provide a volunteer to sit with, and even read with, the person they look after.
