Liverpool Fairness Commission

21/11/2011

The Liverpool Fairness Commission is an independent body set up to look at ways of reducing social and economic inequality for those who live in Liverpool. We will make recommendations aimed at addressing the real issues that must be tackled to create greater fairness and re-balance the economy. They will help shape the delivery of public sector services.

How do I get involved?

They want to hear from residents, public and private sector organisations, community and voluntary organisations.

They would like your views around the following areas:

  • Work - What more can be done to get Liverpool residents who can/want to work into employment, and what additional help to those who cannot work?
  • Health - How can the city reduce the current health inequalities and improve the health and wellbeing of its residents?
  • Community - How can disadvantaged residents be encouraged to engage with the economic, social and cultural life of the city? What more can the business community, and the community and voluntary sector do to help address inequality and fairness?
  • Housing and environment - What more can be done to achieve affordable and decent homes for all and create sustainable and secure neighbourhoods?
  • Children and families - What more can be done to support Liverpool families and break the cycle of deprivation? How do we ensure Liverpool children get the best start in life through high quality services in foundation and early years support, and the highest standards in our schools?
  • Image - What more can be done to promote to external audiences, especially elsewhere in the UK , a more accurate and fairer image of the city as a place to visit, study, invest and do business in?
  • Business - What more can be done to help Liverpool-based businesses win contracts from public, private and voluntary organisations in the city
